CARL JONES
Creative Director, Bleulab
Meet our INSIDER CLICKS feature: the creative genius behind the reversible jean.
INDUSTRY BIO.
“Trained at the Otis Parsons Art Institute, and 1992 winner of the Walter P. Chrysler Award for Innovative Design, Carl Jones founded Designers Screen Printing in 1982, providing T-shirt designs to companies such as Guess and Ocean Pacific. Jones sold the company in 1985 and founded Surf Fetish, a trendy beachwear concern. In 1990, he took inspiration from the emerging hip hop culture and started Cross Colours, the first clothing company that took urban style to the masses. Jones founded California Vintage, a high-end California lifestyle brand in 2004. Jones found inspiration for the Bleulab reversible jean in mid-2009 from a single piece of fabric, and spent a year developing and perfecting his concept. His inspiration reaches beyong the jean itself, as he continues to evolve Bleulab into a lifestyle brand that will also offer knits, blazers and men’s jeans and shirts.”
