Meet our INSIDER CLICKS feature: the owner and creative mind behind LYON Fine Jewelry.

You may know Lauren Bedford Russell as one of the new cast members of Season 3 of “The Real L Word,” Showtime’s top-performing unscripted show. Off camera, she is not only an accomplished woman and savvy business entrepreneur, but she is also a fervent activist, devoted to inspiring others through her artistic craft.

Armed with a degree in Business and Gemological studies, as well as a year of sketching for Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry, in July 2011, Lauren launched her fine jewelry line, LYON. Her line is well known for its popular Equality, Rock the Vote Bracelets and Obama “Forward” Bracelets, which celebrities such as Kelly Osborn, Adam Lambert, Jason Mraz, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Perez Hilton, Kevin Jonas, Cyndi Lauper, Judd Nelson, Wilmer Valderrama and Lance Bass are rocking around their wrists. At the helm of Lyon Fine Jewelry, Lauren uses her creativity as a force for social change and a platform to promote “forward” thinking. Her goal is not only to stress the importance of accessorizing, but also to create statement pieces to spark conversations about important social and political events, and to encourage people to take action, stand up, speak up, shout out, make a statement and make a difference. With features including, among others, MTV’s Style, Curve Magazine, People.com, Coco Perez, LA’s The Place, Riviera Magazine, LYON has been on the forefront of innovation and design in jewelry, with its edgy yet sophisticated, avant garde pieces. Currently living in Los Angeles, Lauren enjoys sketching drawings, traveling and volunteering with a handful of charities, including FriendFactor, Rock the Vote and Adaptive Action Sports.

FACT: I will do anything for my friends or loved ones.
FACT: I wake up REALLY early every morning.
FACT: I am obsessed with all sorts of food and need to eat every 3 hours.

W2C: What is your favorite aspect of what you do?
LBR: I have the freedom to be able to work from anywhere, and I get to utilize my creativity everyday.

W2C: How old were you when you first dabbled in jewelry making?
LBR: I was probably about 5 years old.

W2C: What was the first piece you made, and why do you love it?
LBR: The La Nouvelle-Orléans Ring was my first major design for my company. I spent months adjusting and perfecting it! I feel like it is a one-of-a-kind, truly original piece.

W2C: What is your favorite piece from the collection, and what is the story behind it?
LBR: The Formentera Earrings are my favorite because of their clasp (which I created) and the way they hang. The post goes through the ear and snaps into place in the back. They are simple and timeless.

W2C: Is there a particular place or thing you gain creative inspiration from?
LBR: New York City and shoes! I love rock-n-roll style, and most of my pieces can be incorporated not only in that aesthetic, but also in a variety of different types of styles, which I love.

W2C: What is the coolest project you’ve been a part of?
LBR: I think that my Charity Bracelets are the coolest project I’ve ever participated in. I feel blessed and lucky everyday that I am able to give back to our world in a way that is making a difference.
